Spanish La Liga table-toppers FC Barcelona have made Arsenal attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil their prime transfer target for the upcoming winter transfer window as they attempt to strengthen their team, as reported by Marca, quoted by the Express.
The Germany international midfielder has been in good form for the North London club over the past couple of months, which has basically impressed Barcelona hierarchy, who now seems ready to do all they can to take the playmaker away from the Emirates Stadium in the New Year.
Arsenal are still yet to renew the contract of the midfielder to keep him in the club, with his existing deal due to run out in the summer.
The Catalan club, who will be able to negotiate with Mesut Ozil next month over the likelihood of joining at the end of the campaign, want to discuss with Arsenal instead, about the possibility of bringing the attacker to the Nou Camp as soon as possible.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has always said that the former Real Madrid man and Chilean Alexis Sanchez will not leave in January, however, with Barca, rumoured to be very keen on Mesut Ozil, they may have to reject several bids for their midfielder for him to stay a Gunner come February.
