Arsenal set to rival Man City and Chelsea for Frankie de Jong

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has considered a potential move for Ajax star Frankie de Jong, according to widespread reports.

The 20-year-old played his first senior match for Ajax last year November and had impressed massively for the Dutch club this season, playing eight Dutch Eredivisie matches as the team sits second on the log behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven.

The Sun claims Arsenal, Man City and Champions Chelsea have all been put on red alert since De Jong’s splendid displays and the English Premier League trio could be ready to rival one another for the starlet.

It’s claimed that Arsene Wenger and City boss Pep Guardiola has opened discussions with his club over a transfer of the Netherlands U-21 international.

Both Premier League clubs are sure of sealing a £5million move for De Jong in the winter transfer window. The promising wunderkind has only 18 months remaining on his contract at the club.

Manchester United fans may remember youngster De Jong coming on in the 81st-minute in the UEFA Europa League final.

Meanwhile, German Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich have reportedly identified three Arsenal players who they would like to sign in the New Year.

The Bundesliga Champions have earlier returned to the apex of the league log. However, forward Robert Lewandowski has given a hint that he would like an improved deal.
