According to British media reports, Arsenal have tabled Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a new deal worth £125,000 weekly in a bid to keep him at the Emirate Stadium and see off interest from Premier League Champions Chelsea.
As per Daily Star, the north London club are willing to hand the versatile midfielder an improved deal to keep the 24-year-old Englishman at the North London club.
The same publication claim the Blues have made Oxlade-Chamberlain one of their main targets this summer transfer window as Chelsea manager Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his options in midfield.
The report also states that the attacker is “tempted” by Chelsea’s interest, with his current deal at Arsenal set to expire at the end of the next campaign.
However, the publication says that the Gunners are now “optimistic” that the England international will pen a new deal and accept the improved contract terms on the table before his current deal runs out.
The Ox could not prevent the Gunners from a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Stoke City on Match day 2 of the Premier League last Saturday as the Londoners lost their second match of the new season.
Arsenal are now training hard to play Liverpool in their third Premier League match of the season at Anfield Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
