Real Madrid star player is one of the strikers who has emerged as a target for Chelsea this summer, and has been heavily linked with the Premier League champions for much of this summer.
However, it appears the Stamford Bridge club have been dealt a blow in their bid to sign the Spaniard as there are reports that he is increasingly leaning towards staying at the Bernabeu instead of making a move.
Chelsea are yet to have a main man upfront ahead of next season after the Italian boss Antonio Conte told Diego Costa that he is not part of his plans at Chelsea next season. And having lost Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, he is now desperate to sign a new striker.
The former Juventus boss has reportedly reignited his interest in Alvaro after failing in his attempt to bring the Spaniard to Stamford Bridge last summer.
However, Spanish outlet Onda Cero are reporting that the player does not view a move to Chelsea as a ‘feasible’ option.
The 24-year-old has also received a big contract offer from Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian that is worth around €30 million (£26.4m) a season. However, he desires staying in Europe and has no plans to move to China.
He is currently in Los Angeles with the rest of Zinedine Zidane’s squad for their pre-season tours.
Andrea Belotti and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are two strikers who have also been strongly linked with the Stamford Bridge club.
