Superstar midfielder Mesut Ozil is the first Arsenal player that the next manager needs to offload this summer window, Former Irish defender Kenny Cunningham has suggested.

The Germany international midfielder has been a major figure at the club since his transfer to the North London club from La Liga giants Real Madrid in £42.5million deal back in 2013.

The World Cup winner was brought in to help Arsenal end their title drought but the German hasn’t been able to help the club improve their Premier League performances.

The Arsenal footballer has won three Emirates FA Cup titles with the club but the midfielder has seldom been accused of going completely missing in the side’s biggest matches.

The attacking midfielder signed a fresh lucrative deal with the gunners in February to resolve the huge uncertainty surrounding his Arsenal future.

Wenger stepping down

French tactician Arsene Wenger is set to step aside as manager of the club at the end of the campaign after another disappointing season under the 68-year-old coach.

The Gunners are on the lookout for a manager amid rumour linking them with Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, Thomas Tuchel and former star Patrick Vieira.

Former Irish star Cunningham feels Mesut Ozil needs to be sold when the next Gunners boss takes over at the Emirates.
