Emerging reports have confirmed that Manchester United goalkeeper and contract rebel will be forced to remain at the Old Trafford for another year with a 12-month option triggered in his contract agreement.

The Spaniard’s contract with the Red Devils ends at the end of this campaign and he is bent on leaving the club and has refused to sign a deal despite plea from fans, management and coaches.

The 28-year-old is unhappy working under manager Jose Mourinho which adds to the already lost hope of winning silverware this season with the Portuguese boss.

However, the Mirror reports that his current owners have exercised the year-long option in his deal to have him remain for another 18 months from now and he will not be able to speak to any foreign club in January again.

Manchester United are therefore reported to be in the hunt for a replacement for the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper before his extra month expires so that there would be no major gap in the team.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has pleaded with the club to do all it takes to keep the Spanish stopper as he rates him as one of the best in the World, not minding the difference between them both.
