Georginio Wijnaldum has urged Quincy Promes to join him at Liverpool in January.

The 24-year-old has been linked wth a move to Anfield in January as Liverpool are set to lose Sadio Mane to Nations Cup duties and Klopp is said to be keen on adding Quincy Promes to his current squad.

Wijnaldum who scored in Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over City last Saturday, has now revealed his desire for his compatriot to join him at the Merseyside.

He said: ‘Of course I want him to come to Liverpool because I know he is a good player and also a good person who can help the team,

‘I think he knows how great Liverpool is – I knew it before I came here.

‘I don’t know if everything is true about what they say as I don’t speak with him about that.

‘It is something for the manager and the scouts, not for me.

‘I just read it in the papers or on the internet.’

Reports have it that Liverpool will have to stump up to £20 million to sign Promes who has been a spectacular with Spartak Moscow, scoring six goals already this season as well as chipping in with seven assists.

It is understood that Klopp considers Promes as an ideal attacker similar to Sadio Mane because he can play on either side of the pitch or up front,

However, a host of other European clubs are also believed to be monitoring the Dutch attacker.
