Emerging reports reveal that former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is close to taking over the job currently held by Gennaro Gattuso at AC Milan.

The former Arsenal boss left the North London side in the summer transfer window and has since been replaced by Spanish manager Unai Emery who has settled well at the club.

The Frenchman remains jobless as he is yet to secure a deal despite speculations of interests from Juventus, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

However, if a report from France is anything to go by, Wenger might take over at the San Siro in the January window with negotiations believed to have gone advanced.

It is revealed that Milan owners Paul and Godon Singer are both big fans of the former manager and wished he had longed joined them especially immediately he announced his exit from the Emirates Stadium.

Gattuso’s team have secured 21 points this season in 11 games and they are currently fourth in the Serie A table which is unsatisfactory to the owners.

The management are desperate to have the French manager take over as they believe he will do better than the club’s legend owing to his wealth of experience and knowledge of the game.
