Unai Emery speaks on Danny Welbeck’s future after injury

Arsenal boss has spoken on the future of England international Danny Welbeck whose contract ends at the end of the season.

The former Manchester United striker is yet to have his contract being extended which makes him available to listen to offers in the coming year but for the injury he just suffered, the Spanish boss said he will not say a word on what we should expect.

Welbeck suffered a serious ankle injury when Arsenal played a 0-0 draw against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night at the Emirates Stadium.

Emery has confirmed that the injury seem serious with the player reported to be hospitalized immediately he was taken away from the stadium.

However, when asked about what should be expected, the former PSG boss stated that Welbeck’s contract remains the last thing on his mind as he expressed his regret towards the player’s situation.

Emery hailed Welbeck as a good and committed player who has helped the team with his quality and capacity making his absence a big blow to the team.

Meanwhile, Welbeck has struggled this season as he is yet to see regular playing time under with the presence of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette who are all ahead of him.
