Arsenal manager Unai Emery is making plans to raid Manchester United of star Juan Mata who will be a free player by next summer having failed to hold talks with the team.

Emery who once worked with Mata when they were both at Valencia from 2008 to 2011 sees the 30-year-old man as a good fit and addition to his team.

Efforts by the Old Trafford team to hold talks with the player in order to have him stay at the club has failed on several attempts as he is bent on moving away.

The player is reported to be unconvinced he will be handed a starting role and that has been the reason for his refusal to sign a new deal but there are indications that he is happy at the club and will be happy if he gets the assurance.

The Spanish man has not been a regular under manager Jose Mourinho which is the only reason why he is interested in a move away.

The North London manager Emery who is a big fan of the player and his style is reported to be monitoring the situation with the player as he intends to have him joining the Emirates Stadium.
