Liverpool and Chelsea will go head-to-head for the right to sign Dutch whizkid Xavier Mbuyamba according to widespread reports in the United Kingdom (UK) media.
Xavier Mbuyamba plays his club football for Dutch second tier side MVV Maastricht at the moment.
The specific publication from the Daily Mirror claimed that both Liverpool and Chelsea want to sign the young Dutch defender this summer.
Xavier Mbuyamba came through the Academy at Eerste Divisie club MVV Maastricht before making his first team debut in November 2018.
He came on as a second-half substitute for Tuur Houben during the league game against Volendam towards the end of last year.
Xavier Mbuyamba has made four league appearances for his club in the second tier of Dutch football.
The potential transfer of the 18-year-old won’t get Liverpool fans or Chelsea fans out of their seats but he’s a transfer for the future rather than now.
For now, Liverpool and Chelsea have the Champions League final and the Europa League final to concentrate on respectively.
Liverpool will take on North London club Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final billed for Madrid on June 1, while Chelsea take on fellow London side Arsenal in the Europa League final scheduled for Baku in Azerbaijan three days before the Champions League final.
