Chelsea safe hand Thibaut Courtois has disclosed that the reigning Premier League champions have missed the quality of Serbia international midfielder Nemanja Matic in midfield after sustaining injuries in the midfield, as per to a report on FourFourTwo.

The Belgium international shot-stopper believes that the midfield problem have contributed to the destabilization of the team, something which the Serbian was key fo the last term.

The Blues have had a worrisome start to the campaign defensively and conceded three goals in Italy against AS Roma in the Champions League match this week.

The West Londoners have conceded 10 goals in the English Premier League this term without Nemanja Matic, whereas rivals Manchester United, who bring in the Serbian for a fee which could increase to £40million, have only conceded four goals this season.

The effect of the defensive midfielder problems is obvious, with Manchester United being a lot more stabilized with his presence in the middle of the field.

Selling the Serbian to a direct Premier League title rival baffled many fans in the footballing fraternity as it has seriously weakened the Blues and strengthened the Red devils massively.

Nemanja Matic will return to the Bridge this weekend for the match between the two rival clubs in what should be a fascinating encounter.
