Chelsea shrugged off doubts surrounding their recent form with a win over Hull City in the Emirates FA Cup on Friday evening.
Good FA Cup outing
In fact, it took them just 106 seconds to take the lead against their English Championship opponent, Brazil international Willian curling into the net a brilliant left-footed effort beyond David Marshall. From that period on, the encounter was effectively over with Chelsea running riot before the halftime break.
Spaniard Pedro scored after a brief lull for the home side, before Willian scored himself another goal and France international striker Olivier Giroud netted his first Chelsea goal with a trademark close-range finish.
Hull did try their best in the second-half of the clash, though, and nearly scored by winning a penalty kick.
However, Hull player David Meyler couldn’t score against Willy Caballero who deflected the strike away.
Up next, UEFA Champions League
After the win, focus now turns to the UEFA Champions League with the Blues facing a massive clash with La Liga leaders FC Barcelona for a spot in the next round – quarter-finals.
Some Chelsea supporters believe two players simply have to start the Champions League clash when the Blaugrana visit the Stamford Bridge turf.
Fans want same two players
Chelsea faithfull’s want France international striker Olivier Giroud and Brazil star Willian to start against FC Barcelona.
After seeing the winger’s masterclass display against Hull City, Blues supporters were convinced that the Brazilian has to join Belgium star Eden Hazard up front with winter signing Olivier Giroud, as against to Alvaro Morata, in between the wingers.
