Chelsea star player Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move to Manchester United for sometime now, but it appears Chelsea are trying to keep him away from United’s reach.
According to reports from The Times, the Stamford Bridge club are set to agree a new deal with the former Arsenal captain.
Fabregas moved to Chelsea from Barcelona and has evolved into one of the most important members of the club. He also played a pivotal role in helping Chelsea win the premier league trophy last season.
The 30-year-old midfielder is a versatile star player who can effectively play everywhere in the midfield, and was also part of the squad that won the PL trophy with Jose Mourinho in the 2014-15 campaign.
The Spaniard’s current contract with Chelsea will expire in 2019, and the report made it known that he would like to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge by signing for a further two years.
The Spain international is yet to find his full form this season so far, and has only been able to score just a goal with just one assist.
Apart from Fabregas, Manchester United are also understood to be interested in signing Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, and the La Liga club are reportedly ready to sell him if the Old Trafford outfit can activate his €80M release clause.
