Manchester United and Adidas are working on a sensational move for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, according to reports.
Marketing Deportivo says Jose Mourinho and United want the Argentine star as his contract – which runs until 2018 – remains in doubt.
While there have been ramblings about the Argentine superstar attitude with the situation of “tax hunt” by the Spanish government amidst rumors of him stalling on renewing his contract.
This has prompted Manchester United and Adidas on high alert as the sports apparel giants look to lure him away from the Nike kit Catalan club.
“Messi’s contract renewal has not commenced, they’re not even negotiating and there’s not even a firm offer on the table”, Marketing Deportivo reported.
There are still several roadblocks to the deals including a 250 million release clause.
The solution is offering him 100 million euros in addition with a bonus of 5o million euros to run down his contract which is reportedly what Manchester United and Adidas are willing to offer the player.
The German kit wear company seems keen to helping United price away Messi from Barcelona because of the enormous commercial value of the player and the fact that they will be able to utilize him more in a team they sponsor.
