Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata has disclosed he had the opportunity to sign for rivals Manchester United this summer transfer window but turned the bid down.
The Spanish striker had been tipped to link up with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who handed the Spaniard his Real Madrid debut a few years ago, this summer window in a £75m transfer.
However, after much transfer rumour that things would go the other way round, Alvaro Morata joined the Blues and former–Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku joined United for an initial £75m from Merseyside club Everton.
The Striker, explaining why he joined Chelsea to the Daily Mail, he said: “They [Chelsea] demonstrated to me that they really wanted me [Alvaro Morata]. I [Morata] had the opportunity to go to Old Trafford and another side’s in the English Premier League.’’
He said the important thing is that he’s a part of Chelsea now, and very happy with the decision he took in the summer and says it’s now time for him to fight for the Chelsea shirt. He confessed he wants to play well for the side and win with this Chelsea shirt.
United’s Lukaku is currently on a six-match goal drought, the 24-year-old striker started his Red Devil’s career in brilliant fashion with 11 goals in his first 10 matches.
