The Boston Red Sox are entering the 2026 season with a renewed sense of urgency. Following a busy offseason of roster retooling, the team’s CEO made it abundantly clear during a recent press conference that simply making the playoffs is no longer the benchmark for success in Boston.
A Clear Mandate
“We want to win a World Series,” the CEO stated bluntly. “That is the standard here in Boston, and we believe we have assembled a roster capable of competing with anyone in the American League.” The comments put immediate pressure on the coaching staff and the newly acquired free agents to deliver results right out of the gate. In a fiercely competitive AL East, the Red Sox will need their starting rotation to stay healthy if they hope to turn those lofty expectations into a parade down Boylston Street.
