Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has expressed his delight with the crucial win over Leicester City in their Premier League clash on Friday night.

The former Liverpool boss led the Magpies to a 1-0 win over in-form Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

In his post-match reaction to the all-important win, Rafael Benitez was elated at the result as he pointed out his excitement about the potential in his team.

Newcastle United was in the midst of talks about possible relegation from the Premier League and Benitez knew that a win over the Foxes will go a long way to allay those relegation fears.

At the start of the Leicester City game, the Magpies were seven points clear of the last relegation spot occupied by Welsh side Cardiff City at the moment and with the knowledge that a win will take them ten points clear.

In the end, Benitez and the Newcastle United faithfuls got the win they needed via a first-half header from Ayoze Perez.

The Spanish attacker profited from a very good left-footed cross from Matt Ritchie to give his team the win.

Leicester City had won their last four games in the Premier League game with the Magpies but they were not at their fluent beat and they rightly ended up on the losing side.

Benitez got one over another ex-Liverpool manager in Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers.
