Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has backed Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi to be an instant hit in the Premier League under Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri.
Argentine international Icardi has been repeatedly linked with a move to Chelsea ahead of the upcoming transfer window in seven weeks time.
De Laurentiis spoke about Icardi in his recent interview as he revealed that the former Sampdoria striker can grow into a superstar in the mould of Juventus hitman Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Napoli boss believes that Icardi can become a 40-goal-per-season player under the guidance of the 59-year-old tactician.
Pundits and fans alike have rated Mauro Icardi as arguably the best striker in the Italian Serie A.
Since his move to San Siro giants Inter Milan, Icardi has scored 117 goals in 198 appearances for the Nerazurri in all competitions, including 106 goals in the league.
In total, Mauro Icardi has 128 goals to his name.
He’s almost certain to be an upgrade on the current striking options at Chelsea.
The duo of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud have failed to perform for Chelsea consistently.
Both strikers made the headlines on several occasions earlier in the season for a lack of goals but they have picked up in recent games.
