German Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 want to bring in Arsenal star Mesut Ozil from the Emirates Stadium – but that is not expected to happen until after the summer transfer window.
Head of Schalke supervisory board Clemens Tonnies, discussed the prospect of Germany international attacking midfielder Mesut Ozil returning to the German side, with a transfer away from the North London club looking very likely.
As cited by ESPN, Tonnies disclosed that he has a great relationship with the German and the club is definitely considering him to return if it’s okay by both sides.
The Arsenal star came through the youth ranks at the German Bundesliga side and made a name for himself in Germany. However, while Clemens Tonnies is surely keen for the playmaker to come back to his first ever senior team, it looks as though Mesut Ozil will not go back to Schalke next season.
Mesut Ozil produced a brilliant performance against North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for Arsenal recently but has battled to develop consistency in recent seasons.
The German’s Arsenal deal expires at the end of the current season and it seems unlikely that Ozil, 29, will choose to renew his contract at the Emirates, with a January transfer also a possibility.
