Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has revealed the reason behind the exclusion of star striker Mauro Icardi from the Nerazzurri squad for the Eintracht Frankfurt game in the Europa League.

Argentine international Icardi was left out of the Inter Milan squad for the first leg of their last 16 clashes with German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Inter secured a very good result against the Germans ahead of the second leg meeting billed for San Siro next week Thursday.

Both teams played out a goalless draw in their first leg clash.

In his post-match conference, Luciano Spalletti told reporters that Mauro Icardi ruled himself out of training ahead of the Frankfurt clash.

According to Spalletti, Icardi said he’ll inform him if he’s ready to play for Inter Milan.

Mauro Icardi has not played for Inter Milan since being dropped as the team’s captain last month.

The 25-year-old has been heavily touted as a possible transfer addition for several major European clubs including Chelsea as a result of his current plight at the club.

Apart from Chelsea, the Argentine striker has also been linked with European champions Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Icardi has a release clause of €100m on his current Inter Milan deal which expires in the summer of 2021.
