Chelsea’s all-time leading goal scorer Frank Lampard is confident Derby’s on-loan Blues midfielder Mason Mount will make the Three Lions squad sooner or rather than later.
The midfield maestro has impressed with the Rams since the start of the season and England boss Gareth Southgate was seen watching him in the clash against Blackburn on Tuesday- same night Liverpool played against PSG in the champions league.
Mount was a joy to watch as he hit the woodwork with a superb free-kick.
When asked about his performance after the match, Derby’s manager Frank Lampard spoke:
“Mason was fantastic, it is how he has been playing for us every game,”
He was never tentative in his speech about his player when he was told that Southgate watched the encounter.
“I think Gareth would have been impressed. Talking about young English players playing week in, week out, Mason is doing incredibly well.”
Lampard believes Chelsea have got a great talent in him, while he’s there to help Derby, he’s also helping himself to build towards a greater height of his career.
Lampard is convinced that Mount may not be a quick starter in the England squad but he can blend towards any level he finds himself due to his ethics and mentality.
