French Ligue 1 giants Marseille are reportedly keeping tabs on Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno with a view to make a move for him in the New Year.

According to the publication from trusted French media outlet GFFN, Marseille are interested in signing the Spanish international left-back.

The Europa League campaigners are said to be in need of a second left-back after Jordan Amavi and they have identified the Spaniard as the man to fill that void.

Marseille are the latest club to be linked with the 26-year-old.

European heavyweights like Arsenal and Barcelona have been touted as possible transfer destinations for Moreno.

He has been on the fringes of the first team at Liverpool this season due to the emergence of Scottish international player Andy Robertson as the Reds’ first choice left-back.

Alberto Moreno has made just three appearances for Liverpool in all competitions in the new campaign.

He joined Liverpool from Spanish La Liga side Sevilla in the summer of 2014 for a fee of around £12m shortly after playing a big role in the Spanish side’s Europa League triumph.

Alberto Moreno has made over 140 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions and was part of the Reds team that was beaten in the Europa League final by former club Sevilla in 2016.
