According to new reports, premier league heavyweights Manchester United have slapped a ban on Paul Pogba from playing basketball due to their fear that the sport is contributing to their star player’s injury problems.
Pogba is currently sitting out with a hamstring injury which his Portuguese manager described as a ‘long-term’ one.
The France international is recently in the United States and could be sidelined for the next six weeks, meaning he won’t be able to feature for his side when they face the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.
Pogba is a lover of basketball and uploaded a handful of videos on instagram last summer of him playing the sport.
However, the Sun claims his club are worried that playing basketball has impacted his fitness and they want him to stop doing it.
Jose Mourinho’s side reportedly believe that the sport could hinder the player’s recovery and have a negative impact on his knees and ankles.
After the international break, Manchester United will continue their premier league unbeaten run with an away game against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool next Saturday, and Pogba won’t be able to do his stuffs at the game.
The French midfielder was signed from Juventus last summer for a club-record fee and was beginning to show his superb side this season before the injury pushed him away from action.
