The season is over already in the premier league (and in many other leagues across Europe), and while many other English clubs have activated a relax mood, same can’t be for Manchester United (at least, not yet).
The Old Trafford club are set to play their final game of the campaign – which is rightly regarded as their most important game for the term.
It is the UEFA Europa League final, and both Manchester United and Ajax are well aware of the importance of emerging victorious after ninety minutes (or maybe after penalty shootout – we can’t tell).
Ajax are currently in a fantastic form, and Jose Mourinho would be given lots of accolades by Man United faithfuls if he can emerge victorious and grant them a spot in the Champions League next season.
However, the Portuguese boss is aware he is playing without key first choice Ivorian defender Eric Bailly. The Ivory Coast international was suspended for final game after being sent off in the semi final.
Therefore, Phil Jones and Daley Blind are expected to be in heart of United’s defense, while Sergio Romero should be in-between the goalpost.
Marouane Fellaini has an injury concern, so Veteran star Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera are expected to form a partnership in the center of the park.
And up front, we expect Marcus Rashford to start as the lone attacker with Paul Pogba behind him in the No. 10 role, supported by Mkhitaryan and Jesse Lingard.
Here is Man United’s strongest possible 4-2-3-1 XI vs Ajax in the Europa League final.
GK – Romero
DL – Darmian
DC – Blind
DC – Jones
DR – Valencia
MC – Carrick
MC – Herrera
AL – Mkhitaryan
AC – Pogba
AR – Lingard
FC – Rashford
