Monaco star player Thomas Lemar was a hot prospect during the summer transfer window after emerging as a target for a handful of top clubs across Europe.
The talented youngster played a crucial role in Monaco’s ability to win the French Ligue I title last season, and premier league side Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in his signature during the transfer window.
Jurgen Klopp’s side could not, however, secure any deal for the player before the closure of the window, but were quick to land Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal on deadline day.
Nevertheless, it is understood that the Anfield club are still interested in signing the France international due to his talents, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Liverpool are set to battle Arsenal for his signature next summer.
Lemar scored 9 goals and provided 11 assists to his teammates last season but is yet to find his top form this new term. In nine appearances so far this season, he is yet to score a goal but has provided 2 assists.
Liverpool superstar Philippe Coutinho was also linked with a move to Barcelona during the transfer window, but a move couldn’t materialise despite the Brazilian midfielder submitting a transfer request to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
However, the former Inter Milan player is understood to still have the interest to move to Camp Nou, and could push vehemently for it next summer.
If Liverpool agree to sell Phil to the Catalan giants, they will have a huge amount of money with them to persuade Monaco to allow Lemar come over to Anfield.
