Liverpool prepare record transfer deal for Monaco starlet after Arsenal abandon pursuit

According to the Daily Telegraph, Liverpool have contacted Monaco and are preparing a club transfer record deal for French man Thomas Lemar.

The forward was one the few players that impressed for AS Monaco last season as they overcame Ligue 1 and performed well in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite their season, AS Monaco have sold a lot of first-team stars this summer transfer window and more stars could yet leave before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Thomas Lemar finished as a primary target for Arsenal earlier this summer, with reports indicating that Wenger was keen on bringing the forward to the Emirate Stadium.

However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed a week ago that the Gunners of the forward was ‘dead,’ indicating that Monaco were not willing to cash in on the 21-year-old attacker at any fee after a lot of exits.

But the Reds appear to be set to test the French club’s resolve as the same Publication say that the Reds have inquired about the likelihood of signing the starlet for a club transfer record fee worth about £55million.

Notwithstanding interest from Premier League giants Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham, Lemar’s team are thought to believe the forward can attract an even bigger transfer fee next summer transfer window as one of Europe’s rising stars.
