Premier League leaders Liverpool have been boosted by the news that one of their transfer targets has been handed an ultimatum to sign a new contract at his club.

Timo Werner has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds following his impressive form for his German club.
The 22-year-old is currently on the payroll of German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

The German international player has been an ultimatum to sign a new contract with the club.

RB Leipzig Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Oliver Mintzlaff has told him to sign a contract extension or risk being sold at the end of the season.

Timo Werner has 18 months left on his contract at RB Leipzig and has already talked about the possibility of staying at the club until his contract expires in 2020 but it remains to be seen whether the club will allow him to run down his contract amidst serious interest from clubs like Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

He also talked about the possibility of extending his RB Leipzig contract despite the fact that he has held off the signing of a new contract.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big fan of Timo Werner with reports claiming that he wants to sign him.
