Chelsea Puts Transfer Deal On Hold Following Lapses Against Burnley

Kenedy

Following the departure of Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, another Chelsea player expected to leave Stamford Bridge any time soon is Kenedy.

The Brazilian is understood to be getting set to complete a season-long loan to newly-promoted side Newcastle United.

However, in a new development, there are reports that the premier league champions are delaying the proposed loan move due to Antonio Conte‘s concerns over squad depth as they fail to bring new legs in.

Chelsea were forced to include Kenedy on the bench for their opening game against Burnley, the defeat which showed their lack of options.

Last season, Antonio Conte was able to field largely the same players each week since they weren’t playing in the Champions League or the Europa League, and he could successfully win the premier league title with them without much hassles.

This season however, he cannot afford a lean squad due to the Europe’s Elite League.

Goal are reporting that the Stamford Bridge club have paused Kenedy’s move to Rafa Benitez’ Newcastle for the time being as they strive to bring new players in before the end of the transfer window. It was however added that the Brazilian is still likely to move to Newcastle eventually.

It is understood that Conte has urged the club’s management to bring in as much as four new players before the transfer window closes.
