We are still on the issue of Faouzi Ghoulam, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United ahead of the fast-approaching summer transfer window.
One thing still uncleared is the Algerian’s release clause at Napoli.
When he put pen on paper for a new deal at Napoli, Italian news outlet said he signed to have a variable release clause that is applicable to non-Italian clubs. That is, Napoli could decide selling him to any other club at any price – though the bigger the club, the higher the price.
Additionally, another factor that would influence the asking price is how Napoli were faring at that time. It means Faouzi would have come cheaper if Napoli didn’t qualify for next season’s Champions League.
However, there is a new twist from Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian news outlet made it known that the player’s release clause won’t be dependent on those factors, but that it will change on a certain date.
According to the report, Manchester United can get the African star for €38m if they can come with an offer before June 30.
It was also added that the clause would jump to €48m after June 30th.
This means manager Jose Mourinho should begin working immediately to get the deal done… for a cheaper fee
