Manchester United have shockingly emerged as favourites to land Arsenal star Jack Wilshere. The England international midfielder’s contract at the North London outfit is due to run out in five months’ time, and he could possibly leave the club for free during the summer.
Injury setback at Arsenal
The 26-year-old has had injury concerns over the last few campaigns, but he has successfully managed to break into the starting lineup this season with displays which have caught the attention of Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate.
According to a report by The Star, Manchester United have been deemed as likely favourites to land the £90,000-weekly player as they seek a replacement for England international Michael Carrick when the campaign ends.
Reinforcement required at Old Trafford
United manager Jose Mourinho is likely to have to strengthen his midfield option during the summer transfer window with Michael Carrick set to hang his boots from the game whilst Belgium international midfielder Marouane Fellaini seems on his way out of the club to Turkish side Besiktas on a Bosman ruling.
Meanwhile, another United midfielder Ander Herrera has also been linked strongly with a possible move to Serie A giants AC Milan, and his exit would leave the Red Devil’s with only two senior midfielders in the squad, in person of France international Paul Pogba and Serbia international Nemanja Matic alongside hot prospect Scott McTominay.
