After being elected as president of West African Nation Liberia, one time Ballon d’Or winner George Weah is organizing an inauguration ceremony and has a high-profile football manager on his list of invitees.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has disclosed that George Weah has invited him personally to his Presidential inauguration ceremony.
The Arsenal tactician admits he still can’t believe what the African has achieved for himself.
George Weah, an Ex FIFA World Footballer of the Year, was voted in as president of Liberia last week in the Country’s first democratic change of power in about 70 years.
He won the presidential runoff poll in December defeating Joseph Boakai with about 60% of the entire vote.
The Liberia international will succeed Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is Africa’s first female president.
The French tactician was George Weah’s coach at French Ligue 1 side Monaco between the year 1988 and 1992, but the Arsenal manager is not yet sure he will be chanced to attend the presidential ceremony.
Yesterday, it was announced that the Arsenal boss had been slapped by the English FA with a three-game touchline ban for the remarks and actions he made towards the match officials after the disappointing draw against West Brom Albion, so as a result, he will indeed be free to attend Weah’s inauguration.
