While Diego Costa had some issues with ‘a gentleman’ like Antonio Conte this season, we keep wondering how his experience would have been when he had it with someone like Jose Mourinho.
And well, the much improved Spanish star is recently talking about what happened last season under the Portuguese manager.
Surprisingly, despite their turbulent past, the forward has spoken well about the current Man United boss.
Obviously, one of the major things that led to Mourinho’s failure at Chelsea last season is due to the fact that players like Costa decided not to work with him. To show how messy things were with them, it was rumoured that they both don’t like seeing each other back then.
However making comments about the Manchester United boss, Diego stated that he has great respect for Mourinho now and the coach played a big impact in him coming to Chelsea in the first place.
Costa attested Mourinho helped him a lot, and because things didn’t get rosy with them the following season did not erase the fact that the Portuguese manager helped him to improve a lot as a footballer.
The forward scored just 12 times in the premier league last season as Chelsea finished 10th in the league. This season already under Antonio Conte, he has scored 17 goals to help his side dominate in the premier league table.
