Chelsea will have to contend with the presence of another challenger in the race to sign highly rated Lyon forward Nabil Fekir following the news that European champions Real Madrid are keen on a transfer for the French international player.
The interest of Real Madrid was confirmed by popular Spanish media outlet Marca.
Nabil Fekir had earlier been linked with clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Recent reports claim that 2012 Champions League winners Chelsea have emerged as favourites for his signature after they employed the services of super-agent Pini Zahavi as an intermediary between the club and the player.
Nabil Fekir has been attracting the interests of the aforementioned clubs due to his impressive showings for Lyon in the last two seasons.
The 25-year-old has 18 months left on his current Lyon contract.
Fekir came close to signing for Liverpool in the summer only for the Reds to call off the deal at the last minute.
Liverpool had agreed on a £53m deal with Lyon for the player.
He was able to recover from that little setback to play a big part for France at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia as they won via a 4-2 win over Croatia.
