Ex-Liverpool Star Suffers Injury In Serie A Win

Juventus midfielder Emre Can could be set for a spell on the sidelines after he sustained an injury during the win over rivals AC Milan in their Italian Serie A meeting on Saturday.

Emre Can sustained an ankle injury during a collision with AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie and he had to be replaced in the 25th minute as a result.

The former Liverpool player was subbed on for German international Sami Khedira who was making his return after almost two months out with irregular heartbeat.

The injury to Emre Can is a new problem for Juventus manager Maximiliano Allegri who has several injury worries to contend with ahead of the Champions League quarterfinal tie with Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam.

Emre Can is almost certain to miss the first leg meeting between his Juventus and Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday night.

Ajax host the Italian champions in the first leg of their Champions League last eight ties before the second leg in Turin next week.

Without Emre Can, Juventus had enough to beat Milan 2-1 as they moved closer to securing the Italian Serie A title.

AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek gave his team a first half lead which was cancelled out by a Paolo Dybala’s penalty on the hour mark before substitute Moise Kean wrapped up the victory for the Old Lady.

Juventus will win the league title if nearest challengers this weekend if Napoli lose at home to Empoli.
