Arsenal manager Unai Emery has confessed to being a long-term fan of French striker, Alexandre Lacazette even before their meeting at the Emirates Stadium.

Emery had attempted to sign Lacazette while he was in charge at Paris Saint-Germain but the player was in great love for Lyon which stopped him from a move away.

Eventually, they both met in the summer when the Spanish manager replaced former manager Arsene Wenger.

Surprisingly, Emery failed to start the former Lyon player in his first three games of the Premier League until he was more convinced that he deserves to make the starting XI.

The former PSG manager revealed he has been in love with Lacazette’s quality and the characteristics he is made up but it was difficult for him to quit Lyon.

It was revealed that PSG had opted for Barcelona and Brazilian forward Neymar in addition to French wonder kid Kylian Mbappe in a bid that cost the French side £350 million.

Emery, therefore, stated that he would not compare the French striker with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang because they are different players entirely with different roles and impact on the pitch.

However, the Frenchman has got five goals to his name so far this season for the North London side.
