Chelsea supporters would have been left worried over reports that Belgian star Eden Hazard was leaving the club for La Liga giants Real Madrid in the summer.
Rumour spread quickly yesterday, with many quoting RMC Sport that the Belgium international forward had agreed to join Real at the conclusion of the campaign.
Eden Hazard has been pivotal for Italian tactician Antonio Conte over the last eighteen months, helping the Blues win the Premier League title last campaign while he’s scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 28 matches across all competitions so far this season.
In turn, Chelsea will have no intent to see their star man leave the West London club, while in contrast, it’s easy to know why the Champions League holders would want the 26-year-old attacker in their team.
A number of injury problems, loss of form and age have all led to several question marks being raised over Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, although they will certainly be more inspired than before to prove that they can still perform consistently together.
However, signing Eden Hazard would give the La Liga giants a long-term alternative in that position. The Champions are far away from catching up with runaway La Liga leaders FC Barcelona in the race for the title.
