Transfer of star midfielder expected this summer.
According to Diario Gol, Merseyside outfit Liverpool are set to pay as high as €80m for Croatia international midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who would, without doubt, be a good addition to the club.
The Reds have just lost the services of Germany international midfielder Emre Can on a free, as the attacking midfielder opted to run out his deal and make the switch to Serie A champions Juventus this summer window.
And despite Guinean Naby Keita and Brazilian Fabinho already signed, it looks as if manager Jurgen Klopp believes he has room for more options in attack.
Creative midfielder will bring quality
Crucially, the FC Barcelona superstar could add something a bit different to the Liverpool side, with South American midfielder Fabinho a more defensive player who can also play in defence, while African Keita is a more attacking player.
The creative midfielder could slot in pretty well in between those two latest arrivals as a ball-player, and would certainly be an upgrade on England international Jordan Henderson in that position.
The 30-year-old midfielder would also add great experience to this slightly youthful Liverpool team, having won three Spanish La Liga honours and the UEFA Champions League since joining FC Barca back in 2014.
