According to latest reports, German giants Bayern Munich have joined the race of teams interested in signing Benfica star Nelson Semedo. The fullback is also a Manchester United target.
Semedo joined Benfica back then in 2013 and he worked very hard towards establishing himself as the team’s first-choice right back under manager Rui Vitória. This season so far he has already appeared 24 times for the Portuguese Champions.
In recent months, Manchester United have been sending their representatives to Lisbon to monitor the progress of the duo of Victor Lindelof and Semedo.
Nevertheless, according to The Sun, Bayern Munich have marked Semedo as a potential replacement for Philip Lahm in the coming years.
But we think both United and Bayern Munich are looking at the wrong man here. The youngster has already made it publicly known that he is happy where he is despite rumours linking him with a move out of Benfica. In a recent interview, he said he is completely focused on Benfica and that he is hoping to continue at the club for many years to come.
We think he made a right choice deciding to stay at Benfica. If he should come to Old Trafford, he would need to fight a player like Matteo Darmian for the role of second choice right back at United. This also can await him in Bayern Munich.
