According to reports, Premier League Champions Chelsea are prepared to make another transfer move for Everton forward Ross Barkley in the New Year.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the West London giants remain interested in bringing the England international playmaker to Stamford Bridge, who is yet to feature in a minute of football action for the Merseyside club this campaign due to injury problems.

The speedy forward, Barkley, was close to signing a deal at Stamford Bridge in the last hours of the last summer transfer window, before he reportedly pulled the plug at the very last second.

As stated in the same report, the Everton star is close to returning to the pitch of play, with only two weeks left to gain full fitness, meaning that the Chelsea target could be back in football action for the Merseyside club before the winter transfer window in January does open.

Ross Barkley is out of Everton deal at the end of the current season and will then be eligible to leave the club for nothing. However, the Toffees could decide to sell and offload the 24-year-old winger in the New Year.

North London giants Tottenham Hotspur are believed to still be interested in securing the signature of Ross Barkley.
