According to reports emanating from Italy, West London giants Chelsea are preparing a £65m offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Scoring defender
The Senegalese netted a towering, headed winning against Serie A champions Juventus on Sunday to blow wide open the Serie A title race.
The Centre-half has long been strongly linked with a switch to England, with Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal all closely monitoring in the past.
Chelsea keen on defender
But as per Il Mattino, the Blues have moved a step ahead of their rivals by readying a £65million offer.
Napoli signed the African from Genk in 2014 for only £7million.
Koulibaly, 26, has played 161 matches for the Italian side, netting eight goals in the process.
Reinforcement needed at the back
The Blues will be looking to strengthen their defence next term, regardless of whether Italian tactician Antonio Conte remains on or not.
Chelsea have let in 34 goals in their 34 English Premier League matches, more than all other top-five sides except Liverpool.
Chairman of the club Aurelio de Laurentiis is set for a number of offers for his star centre-half this summer window.
But with the West London giants set to pay the player’s buyout clause, the Italian side may be forced to offload, albeit for a massive profit.
