The Turkish star is known for his passing and free-kick abilities and has continued to be an impressive performer for Leverkusen this season, with four goals and four assists in 13 Bundesliga appearances so far.
Reports earlier this season claimed Chelsea were closing on a £17m deal for set-piece specialist Calhanoglu.
According to the Mail, the Premier League table toppers monitored him during his side’s 1-1 draw with Cologne last week.
Calhanoglu is a versatile midfielder who could play in the middle or the wing and sometimes as a second striker. The 22-year-old might be a perfect replacement for Oscar but might face stiff competition for starting place which also prompted the Brazilian’s exit from the Stamford Bridge.
