Manchester United are stubborn in their hunt for a centre-back. Bournemouth Nathan Ake is there in Mourinho’s shopping list of targets for that berth in his squad.
Chelsea plan to thwart that move as is claimed by reports floating about in England.
There’s a huge hank over the futures of Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Andreas Christensen, whose career has taken a huge plunge since Conte’s departure.
Luiz is on the wrong side of 30, Cahill is fighting to leave after failing to impress Sarri this term, in January, and already has a host of clubs flocking to sign him at the turn of the year.
Snatching up Nathan Ake seem like the logical thing to do right now, and Chelsea are already one step ahead of their rivals Manchester United.
Ake joined Cherries Bournemouth on a permanent deal after the Blues sanctioned a 20 million pounds bid in the summer of 2017. But Chelsea have a chance to sign back the player after they insisted on pinning a buy-back clause to that sale.
The price tag was set at 40 million pounds. If the reports are anything to go by, and Chelsea are keen on getting in back in their backfield, the buy-back clause gives them an upper hand over United.
Ake joined Chelsea back in 2011, from Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord.
The Dutch international, 16-year-old then, racked up 17 first team appearances for the Blues during his spell at the club.
