Apart from Harry Kane, another Tottenham star who had been linked with Chelsea is Toby Alderweireld.
And even though a deal wasn’t struck during the past transfer window, Alderweireld’s agent Stijn Francis recently said his client could leave White Hart Lane next summer.
Chelsea have been credited with interest in the defender, with the Evening Standard reporting last month that the premier league champions were considering a move.
And speaking recently (as quoted by The Mirror), his agent Stijn Francis hailed the player as a player with an impressive statistics who deserves a buoyant deal, or else should be given a transfer.
Francis made a further revelation:
“Seven or eight big European clubs are interested in signing [Toby]… not many central defenders around who can play like [him].” he said.
Toby has evolved into one of the best defenders in the Premier League and in Europe at large. He is regarded as one of the most important members at White Hart Lane with a strong reputation forged over the past few seasons.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have had the best defensive record in the English top flight for two campaigns in-a-row, with him playing a big role to achieve that.
However, it now appears he will leave Tottenham due to wages issues. He is understood to be asking for something as huge as what Harry Kane is being paid at the club and could leave next summer if his demands are not granted.
