Fee Agreed: Chelsea handed £57million boost after League cup loss

According to latest reports, Chelsea have had an offer accepted by Italian Serie A side Roma as they move ever closer to completing the double move of Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko and defender Emerson Palmieri.

As per the Guardian, Chelsea will pay £44m plus add-ons worth about £57.2million for the Roma duo in what seems a good piece of business.

This is a timely transfer boost for the Blues after their EFL Cup semi-final loss to the Gunners last night that sees their poor run of form recently continue.

The Premier League title holders have won only once in their last six matches, not including a spot-kick shoot-out win over English Championship club Norwich City in the Emirates FA Cup.

The imminent arrivals of striker Edin Dzeko and defender Emerson should solve two main problems in the Chelsea squad for the second stanza of the campaign, though they’ve come only a little late as the tactician sees his team drop out of the EFL Cup.

The English Premier League title is already out of reach for Chelsea, so they could surely have done with the transfer boost of a domestic cup in the bag by month end to hand them a major boost in the last stages of the season.
