Brock Lesnar is one of the most terrifying athletes to ever step inside a WWE ring or an MMA octagon. His physical presence is legendary, and a massive part of his visual aesthetic is the large, sword-like tattoo etched across his chest. However, in a remarkably candid and rare interview this week, the “Beast Incarnate” admitted that the iconic ink was never part of a master plan.
A Hilarious Confession
Laughing with the interviewer, Lesnar confessed that the origin of the tattoo was completely impulsive. “Honestly, it was a s***-faced drunk accident,” Lesnar admitted. “I was in a dark place in my career, out having too much fun with the guys, and I woke up the next morning with my chest wrapped in plastic. I looked in the mirror and thought, ‘Well, I guess I’m the sword guy now.'”
Owning the Mistake
Despite its accidental origins, Lesnar successfully leaned into the imagery. The sword pointing toward his throat became a metaphor for his mindset during his initial UFC run—a visual representation of having his back against the wall. It just goes to show that in the world of professional combat sports, sometimes the best branding is completely unintentional.
