The winter transfer session is still ongoing, and different clubs are already making the headlines. United fans are however still looking out for at least, a final official announcement from the Old Trafford, considering how different speculations keeps flying around in the media since last year. One player often in the news linked to a United move is Benfica classic player Victor Lindelof. As each day passes by, we hear another report about his perceived move.
It is a known thing that Mourinho has been seeking to sign him for a long time now. Nevertheless, the latest report about his link to Old Trafford looks positive. Express Exclusive have reported that Manchester United are on the verge of agreeing a deal worth £38million to sign the Benfica central back this month.
The report by the Express said further that 22-year old Lindelof is not the only center half that United boss Jose Mourinho seeks to persuade. All have brought to the limelight once again Southampton defender Jose Fonte.
In just few days, some reports emerged that Mourinho won’t be signing Fonte anymore. But right now, Express are saying the opposite, and it seem everything have changed. Express insisted that the Portuguese tactician is set to splash a combined fee of £45million to bring in the duo of Fonte and Lindelof.
In our opinion however, we think Man United already have enough options in the central defense. They have in-form guys like Smalling, Rojo, and Jones around. Even Baily, though presently representing his country in Africa, is already fit again. Blind can also play effectively in the central defense. So we don’t think it is right for Mourinho to bring in two additional central backs right now.
