Arsenal are now sitting in the fifth position at the English Premier League table following their recent unimpressive performances. They are now 2 points ahead of in-form Manchester United, and a slight error could see the red devils overtaking them drastically.
It is obvious the Gunners are missing star player Santi Cazorla on the pitch. They signed Granit Xhaka last summer but he has not been consistent as yet.
In the past few years, Cazorla has been one of the most important members in the squad. Unfortunately for the Spanish star, he has been injury prone. He can play anywhere in the central/attacking midfield and he is reportedly currently earning £90,000-a-week with Arsenal.
Santi began the season on a brilliant note for the Gunners. In just 7 league games, he scored twice and provided 2 assists. Nevertheless, a long term ankle injury spoilt everything for him and his side.
Despite all of those, the Mirror have reported that Arsenal is ready to agree a one year extension for the 32-year-old playmaker. This means Wenger still consider him a vital player in the team.
The Mirror stated further that Arsene Wenger also wants to sign an extension with veteran defender and club captain Per Mertesacker.
