Barcelona striker Luis Suarez will miss the next few weeks as a result of the knee injury that he sustained against Liverpool in the Champions League.
The Uruguayan international suffered a knee injury against the Reds in their Champions League clash on Tuesday night and he has already undergone surgery.
According to the statement from Spanish champions Barcelona, Luis Suarez will be ruled out for up to six weeks.
Luis Suarez will miss the remainder of the season as a result of the knee injury and he’s a big doubt for Uruguay ahead of the COPA America this summer.
The former Liverpool player will miss the rest of the Spanish La Liga season as well as the Spanish Copa Del Rey final with Valencia on May 25.
Suarez is doubtful for Uruguay ahead of their COPA America opener against Ecuador on June 16.
He has scored 25 goals in all competitions for Barcelona this season.
His injury compounded what has been a poor week for Barcelona who saw a 3-0 first leg lead evaporate against Liverpool in the semifinals of the Champions League.
The Reds were able to overturn that deficit on Tuesday night via a 4-0 victory at Anfield courtesy a brace apiece from Belgian international striker Divock Origi and Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
