German champions Bayern Munich have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of their all-important Champions League last 16 second leg clash with Premier League club Liverpool.

Bayern will host the Reds at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night in that second leg with a place in the Champions League quarterfinals up for grabs.

The Bavarian giants won’t be able to field experienced winger Arjen Robben after it was revealed that he will miss the game with a calf injury sustained in training.

His injury status was confirmed by Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac during his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon ahead of their league game with VFL Wolfsburg at the weekend.

Niko Kovac also revealed that Kingsley Coman could play a part in the Liverpool game having been struggling to shake off a thigh injury.

The young French international winger was doubtful for the first leg clash between both teams in February but the player managed to start the game as he helped the Bavarian giants to a goalless draw at Anfield.

Niko Kovac then revealed that French midfielder Corentin Tolisso will miss the game because he isinjured and that he’s not expected back in the Bayern team until the end of this month.
